European Grant Funding

We're delighted to be able to share that Shepherds Purse have been awarded grant funding to support a project that has enabled us to expand our cheesemaking capacity. With more people than ever before enjoying our cheeses, we are excited at this next step in continuous improvement. The project has been part funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

Shepherds Purse Cheeses was founded in 1989 by Judy Bell MBE, on the Bell family farm in North Yorkshire. They began making innovative cheeses from sheep milk. Today, they remain on the family farm and make a range of exquisite cheeses from cow's milk, water buffalo milk and sheep milk. Run by Judy's two daughters, Katie Matten and Caroline Bell, Shepherds Purse now comprises of a team of 35 local people and make a range of ten unique cheeses which are sold across the globe.
